Busan wins 3-0 over Seongnam…4 straight wins, leads K League 2

Cheongju defeats Ansan 1-0, extends unbeaten streak to 14 matches

Reporter Kim Do-yong = Busan I-Park has extended its lead at the top of the professional soccer K League 2 (second division) table with four consecutive wins.

The team defeated Seongnam FC 3-0 in the 31st round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 on Saturday at the Asiatic Stadium in Busan.

With their fourth consecutive win, Busan improved to 16 wins, 8 draws, and 5 losses (56 points) and extended their lead over second-place Gimcheon Commerce (52 points), who have played one game less.

Seongnam, which is winless in its last three matches with one draw and two losses, remains in ninth place with eight points (34).

Busan took the lead in the 18th minute through a sensational strike from Lamas. After intercepting the ball in the Seongnam zone, Lamas saw the opposing goalkeeper advance and fired a shot from long range that rattled the Seongnam net.

With the momentum on their side, Busan doubled their lead in the 41st minute. In a corner kick situation, Kim Chan concentrated on the ball that hit Kim Jung-hwan’s foot and finished it with a goal.

Continuing to attack for additional goals, Busan sealed the victory with a goal by Sung Ho-young in the 36th minute of the second half.

Continuing their unbeaten run of eight wins and six draws in their last 14 matches, Cheongju moved to 11 points (10 wins, 7 draws) and moved down to sixth place in the table, knocking FC Anyang (42 points) off the pace.

Ansan, which is winless in its last six matches with two draws and four losses, remains on 18 points (4W6D18L) and has reduced its goal difference with last-place Cheonan City FC (14 points) to four.

Last-place Cheonan traveled to Seoul E-Land and scored three goals in a 3-0 victory.

It was Cheonan’s first win in two months and their second win of the season since July 23 against Seongnam FC (3-2). They also closed the gap on Ansan and will look to move into the playoffs.
