Women’s professional volleyball IBK Industrial Bank of Korea (hereinafter referred to as Industrial Bank of Korea) reorganized its coaching staff. The Industrial Bank of Korea team announced on the 4th that it had recruited former KGC Ginseng Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Ginseng Corporation) director Lee Young-taek as its head coach.
Along with head coach Lee, coach Kim Jae-hoon also joined the IBK coaching staff. With this, head coach Lee is back on the V-League court after one season.
He failed to renew his contract with Ginseng Corporation after the end of the 2020-21 season. The Ginseng Corporation club appointed Ko Hee-jin, the new ㅋㅋㅋ벳 head coach at the time, as the new head coach, whose contract with Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance had expired.
Head coach Lee later turned to overseas leagues. Last season (season 2022-23), he took the helm of Palembangbank, the men’s team in the Indonesian League. However, this time he signed a contract with IBK and returned to the women’s V-League.
Head coach Lee graduated from Munil High School and Hanyang University and played as a middle blocker during his playing days. He joined Korean Air in 2000 and is a starting member of the V-League. He retired from playing after the 2014–15 season.
Afterwards, he started his leadership career as a Hyundai E&C coach and from 2017 to 2018, he also served as a coach for the men’s volleyball team. In 2019, he moved to the coaching staff of Ginseng Corporation, where coach Seo Nam-won was at the helm.
After Seo laid down the baton, he served as an acting manager and rose to the official command tower in 2020. He retired once after the 2008-09 season and worked as a power analyst for Korean Air in the 2009-10 season before returning as a player.
Coach Kim also went to Munil High School and Hanyang University like Head Coach Lee. He was selected by Hyundai Capital in the 2nd round, 5th pick, in the 2013-14 season rookie draft.
His position as a player was outside hitter. He played 5 seasons for Hyundai Capital and participated in 80 games (157 sets), scoring 18 points, attack success rate 52.1%, and receiving efficiency 15.385.
He also played for the unemployment team Hwaseong City Hall and started his leadership career as a GS Caltex coach ahead of the 2021-22 season.
Industrial Bank of Korea, led by manager Kim Ho-cheol, did not renew contracts with existing coaches Ahn Tae-young and Gong Tae-hyun, instead of recruiting two new coaches.
