‘I love you, Red Sox.
For Hyun-jin Ryu’s Toronto Blue Jays, the Boston Red Sox may be a rival, but they’re almost too good to be true.
Texas is in the thick of the American League wild-card race. They swept a three-game series in Boston over the weekend and got a sweet break on April 19. Now it’s time to prepare for a season-defining three-game series at the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays, respectively.안전놀이터
The day off brought some welcome news. Their rivals, Texas, lost again. The Rangers had shockingly lost four straight at home last week. They ran out of steam over the weekend and were swept in a three-game series by the Cleveland Cavaliers. That left Toronto in second place.
Then on the 19th, Texas faced Boston, who had taken three games from Toronto. The result was a 4-2 Boston victory. The Red Sox were already out of the running for fall baseball. Texas fell into a four-game losing streak.
In the meantime, second-place Toronto sat back and closed the gap on Texas to one game. It’s not a huge difference, but even half a game is a huge gain for Toronto.
Another contender, the Seattle Mariners, bounced back from a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend with a 5-0 sweep of the lowly Oakland Athletics. All three teams – Toronto, Texas, and Seattle – have now played 150 games. That puts Toronto in second place in the wild-card race with an 83-67 record, while Texas and Seattle are tied for third with an 82-68 record.
The wild card race is a three-way tie for third place and a postseason berth. Toronto is not out of the woods yet. Which of the three teams will be the lone tearjerker?
