In order to receive the KLPGA Grand Prize and Rookie Award, you must win a major tournament… Winning points greatly increased

Winning major tournaments becomes very important to win the Grand Prize and Rookie of the Year on the Korean Women’s Professional Golf (KLPGA) tour. It is expected that it will be difficult to win the grand prize without winning major competitions. The KLPGA Tour announced that it would implement it from 2024 by newly adjusting the target point section given to the tournament. 메이저놀이터

According to the new rules, the winners of the five majors receive 100 grand prize points. 30 points more than the current 70 points. In addition, the upper limit of points that can be received per tournament has also been raised. Currently, the upper limit is 70 points, but the winner of a tournament with a total prize money of 1.2 billion won or more and less than 1.5 billion won gets 80 points. Competitions with a total prize pool of more than 1.5 billion won will receive 90 points.

In other words, the more prize money you win, the more points you get. But more important than that is winning a major tournament. Conversely, it also means that it will be difficult to receive the grand prize without winning a major tournament.

It’s not just target competition. The same goes for the Rookie of the Year competition. Under the current rules, winners of tournaments with total prize money of over 1 billion won and major tournaments receive 310 points equally. However, from next year, winners of 1 billion won or more and less than 1.2 billion won will receive 230 points, winners of 1.2 billion won or more and less than 1.5 billion won will receive 270 points, and champions of 1.5 billion won or more will receive 310 points, the same as in major competitions. In other words, the winner’s point weight in major competitions is much greater.

Therefore, it is expected that it will be virtually impossible to win the grand prize without a major tournament, even if you rank in the top 10 or achieve consistent results.
