Professional soccer K League 1 Incheon United defender Kim Gwang-seok (40) took off his soccer boots leaving the familiar ground behind.
Kim Gwang-seok had his retirement ceremony prior to the 8th round kick-off of Hana One Q K League 1 2023 between Incheon and Suwon FC held at the Incheon soccer stadium on the 22nd.
Kim Gwang-seok is a K-League legend who started as a trainee and has been on the ground for 21 years since 2002, recording 11 goals and 5 assists in 451 matches.
Kim Gwang-seok received a warm applause from the players of both teams and entered with his family, watched a special video prepared by the Incheon club, and received a commemorative gift from Incheon CEO Su-su and Incheon coach Cho Seong-hwan.먹튀검증
Following this, Choi Soon-ho, the legend of Kim Gwang-seok’s former team, Pohang Steelers, and current Suwon FC general manager, had a meaningful time handing over a bouquet of flowers.
Fans waved the ‘uniform number 3’ balloon symbolizing Kim Kwang-seok.
After introducing himself as “Kim Kwang-seok who fought on the ground for 20 years,” Kim Kwang-seok said, “Thank you very much for commemorating a player who is nothing like this.”
He continued, “I hope you remember the number 3 (which I wore) as a number that makes you feel good.”
Meanwhile, Kim Gwang-seok said goodbye to the fans through a fan signing event in the stadium prior to his retirement ceremony.
An official from Incheon explained, “We expected many fans to come, but even more fans showed interest and support. The line was so long that we almost were late for the retirement ceremony.”
Kim Gwang-seok, who finished his 20-year career as a player, started his second football career as a scout for Incheon.
