The South Korean national soccer team, led by Jürgen Klinsmann, has a new opponent for its September European A match.
The Korea Football Association (KFA) announced on Sept. 29 that it has reached an agreement with the Welsh Football Association to play a national team friendly against Wales on Sept. 7. The match will be held at Cardiff City Stadium in Wales, and the game time has not yet been finalized.
It will be the first time in five years that the national team has played away from home in Europe, having traveled to Northern Ireland and Poland in March 2018. The team also played friendly matches in Austria in 2020 and in Turkuye in 2022, but those were neutralized matches against third-country teams.
“The match against Wales is the first of two matches during the September A Match Day period set by FIFA,” the KFA said, adding that the opponent for the second match has not yet been decided. “We are looking for a team from another continent as most of the European teams are playing the European Championship (Euro 2024) qualifiers during this period,” it added.먹튀검증
South Korea will face Wales for the first time in an A match. Wales is ranked 26th in the FIFA rankings, one spot higher than South Korea (27th). Wales qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 64 years at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, but failed to advance to the round of 16 after a 1-1 draw and two losses in the group stage.
