Nominations for the 2023 Roberto Clemente Award are now open.
The Major League Baseball Office announced today the nominees for the Roberto Clemente Award for each club.
Named in honor of Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente, who passed away in a plane crash while on an earthquake relief mission to Nicaragua, the award annually recognizes a player who has made a positive impact on and off the field through good character and philanthropic efforts such as community service.
A total of 30 nominees, one from each club, were selected, 16 for the first time.
Five are former MVPs: Miguel Cabrera, Paul Goldschmidt, Aaron Judge, Mike Trout, and Christian Yelich.
Combined, these 30 players have 79 All-Star nods, 24 Gold Gloves, and 10 World Series titles.
Pittsburgh’s David Bednar, San Francisco’s Brandon Crawford, and Colorado’s Kyle Freeland were recognized for their local ties and contributions to their communities.
The final winners are selected by a blue ribbon panel. The panel included representatives from the league office, presenting sponsor Capital One, Major League Baseball broadcasters (MLB Network, FOX Sports, ESPN, TBS), MLB.com, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and Clemente’s three children, Enrique, Luis, and Roberto Clemente Jr. Each fan vote counts for one vote.카지노사이트
