Hard-throwing pitcher Kim Seo-hyun (19, Hanwha Eagles) is headed to the second team following a recent slump.
Manager Choi Won-ho announced the news of Kim’s removal from the first team before the team’s game against the Doosan Bears in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League on Aug. 8 at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. Kim came in as the second pitcher in the seventh inning with the team leading 3-1 against Doosan on July 7 and gave up a single and a hit by pitch in 0.1 innings before being removed from the game.
So far this season, Kim has appeared in 18 games with one save and a 5.60 ERA. In her four games this month, she gave up seven walks and two batted balls, which led to the decision to send her to the second team.
“Kim Seo-hyun was looking around when she came off the mound on the last seven days,” Choi said, explaining the decision to move her to the second team. “I think it’s time for him to get his body and mind in order,” he added.
Kim Seo-hyun is a super rookie who was selected in the first round of the 2023 draft. He is specially managed by Hanwha. “I think (Kim) needs to systematically receive training in the second team and increase the number of pitches by pitching before the game,” Choi said, explaining the reasoning behind the second team selection class. “It means to bring him up from the bottom again rather than switching him to the starting lineup right away,” he said, adding, “I don’t know when he will return to the first team, and his position will be decided again after discussions with the coaching staff and the club.”먹튀검증
