There’s a record for that—L.A. rewrites franchise history, ‘bombs’ for 25 goals against Colorado

The unbelievable happened. The Los Angeles Angels scored a whopping 25 runs in one game to blow out the Colorado Rockies.

The Angels cruised to a 25-1, 24-run victory over the 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) Colorado at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, on Friday.

Starter Griffin Canning pitched six innings of four-hit ball, striking out seven to earn his sixth win of the season. Colton Ingram and Tucker Davidson followed with two innings of one-run ball and one scoreless inning, respectively바카라사이트.

First and foremost, it was a day of offense. The Angels got things started with a David Fletcher RBI double in the second inning and then exploded for 13 runs in the top of the third, led by three straight home runs from Mike Trout, Brandon Drury, and Matt Tice. By the end of the inning, the gap between the two teams had grown to 15 runs.

The Angels bats weren’t satisfied with a 15-run lead, even though the game had been tilted in their favor earlier in the inning. They scored eight runs in the top of the fourth inning, including an RBI single by Drury, to complete a 20-run inning. They added one in the sixth and one in the eighth to break the franchise record for most runs in a game. The previous record was 24 in 1979.

According to MLB.com, the 24-run win ranks as the third-largest margin of victory in MLB history since the 20th century. The top spot is held by the 2007 Texas Rangers, who won by 27 runs (30-3).

The Angels hit five home runs on the day, with Hunter Renfroe and Mickey Moniak combining to go 5-for-5 at the plate. Fletcher, who went 4-for-5 with five RBIs, also contributed to the big win.

The Angels nearly had a multi-hit game with all of their starters, but only one of their nine batters had more than one hit. Shohei Ohtani, who leads both major leagues in home runs this season, had to settle for 1-for-7 with a walk. Another way to look at it is that the Angels proved that they can score a lot of runs without relying on Ohtani.
