Kia Tigers’ Lee Yi-ri was retired early due to a finger problem.
Lee started the second game of a doubleheader against the LG Twins at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field on April 9 and left after the fifth inning. He pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits with five strikeouts. The team was outscored 12-7, but was unable to close out the win, falling to 11-1.
The first inning was a no-hitter. He gave up three walks to Hong Chang-ki, Kim Hyun-soo, and Moon Bo-kyung. In the first inning, he gave up a single to Austin, a walk to load the bases, and an infield single to give up another run.
In the second inning, Kim Ki-hyun and Jung Ju-hyun singled and Hong Chang-gi walked to load the bases. He gave up one run on an infield grounder and another on his own throwing error. In the third inning, he regained control of his pitches and kept the game scoreless until the fourth inning.
However, in the top of the fifth, he struck out Kim Hyun-soo on a wild pitch and was removed from the mound. Coach Seo and trainer Seo Jae-ng came to the mound to examine him and made the decision. The callus on his left middle finger had flaked off. It made it difficult for him to pitch.
Lee has a finger issue. He has an unusual condition that causes his entire middle finger to peel off when he gets a blister. In one case, he canceled a start because of a blister. Even in spring training, he had to stop pitching for long periods of time due to blisters.안전놀이터
That’s why the calluses on his middle finger came off when he absolutely needed them. It’s not a big injury, but it’s a question of whether I’ll be able to pitch the next game. We’ll have to wait and see how the finger feels before deciding whether or not to pitch.
It’s unfortunate that Lee came back with 10 days to recharge his batteries because of a sore shoulder, but he hasn’t been able to pitch many innings. He lasted just three innings against SSG on the 3rd and didn’t make it to five innings today.
His next start will be in Gwangju against Doosan on the 15th. After that, he will join the national team for the Hangzhou Asian Games on the 22nd. It will be interesting to see if he can make it to the Taegeuk with a good performance in the remaining one game.
