Kim Ha-seong (28, San Diego Padres), who finished ninth in the first interim All-Star balloting, has earned a spot in the All-Star Game.
MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball, announced its list of players who are eligible for their first career All-Star selection on Saturday.
They listed six players worthy of mention, including Kim Ha-seong. He was also the only second baseman to make the list.
In 64 games through June 16, Kim hit .239 with five home runs, 20 RBIs, 11 doubles, 28 runs scored, 48 RBIs, a .335 OPS and a .703 slugging percentage.
That’s not exactly a top-tier batting performance. However, Kim has been a stellar defender at first base for San Diego. His defensive numbers are top-notch.
That’s why he’s considered a strong candidate for the All-Star Game, despite being ranked ninth in the National League in the first midseason tally.
While Kim’s batting numbers aren’t as good as those of the All-Stars, he’s a solid defender and is the starting center fielder for San Diego.
Major League Baseball All-Star voting is divided into a first and second ballot. The first ballot will be open until 12 p.m. ET on June 22 for nominees from each of the 30 clubs.
Voting will take place on Major League Baseball’s and each team’s official websites, and you can vote up to five times in a 24-hour period.
A second round of voting will be held for the top two vote-getters at each position (six outfielders). This will take place from June 26 at 12pm ET to June 29 at 12pm ET.
The second round of voting will be open for one vote per 24 hours. Results from the first round of voting will not be considered. The final winner will be announced at 8 a.m. ET on June 30.먹튀검증
Notably, the top two first-place vote-getters in both leagues will be selected to the All-Star team without a second ballot. This is the same as last year.
The nine starting fielders will be selected by fan vote, while pitchers and substitutes will be determined by player vote and commissioner recommendations. The final roster will be announced on the morning of July 3.
The All-Star Game, a star-studded affair, will take place on July 13 at T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners, in Seattle, Washington, USA.
