Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic are competing for the signing of Kang Sung-jin (20, Seoul).
“Tottenham Hotspur are interested in FC Seoul winger Kang Sung-jin,” The Boot Room reported on Nov. 11 (KST).
The 2003-born flanker made his professional debut in the third round of the 2021 K League One season against Seongnam. At the time, he was 17 years, 11 months, and 12 days old, breaking Oh Hyun-gyu’s record as the youngest player to make a K League 1 appearance.
A winger with good individual skills and good dribbling ability, Kang Sung-jin usually plays on the right flank, using his left foot.
After scoring one goal and providing two assists in 14 appearances in his debut season, he was promoted to the main squad for 34 league appearances in 2022, and was selected by Kim Eun-jung for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
The outlet added: “Tottenham could step up their pursuit of the 20-year-old South Korean winger. Tottenham have recently increased their interest in Sung-jin Kang with the arrival of manager Enze Postecoglou. Celtic are also fans of Kang, according to the Sunday Mirror.”
“He is considered one of the most exciting talents in the world and Tottenham have been eyeing him for some time. If the deal goes through, he will have the chance to harmonize with his national teammate Son Heung-min,” explaining that he could even link up with Son.먹튀검증
With Postecoglou heading to Tottenham from Celtic, Tottenham and Celtic are expected to compete for his signature, while Kang is likely to be more interested in joining the Premier League side.
The Boot Room said: “It will be a big jump from the K League 1 to the Premier League. Celtic have had incredible success with Asian players over the past few years. Celtic would have hoped that by signing Kang Sung-jin, they might have found a new potential gem. However, with Tottenham now interested, Celtic will now have to compete with their former manager Postecoglou.”
