‘We love Jamboree.’
KT Wiz Park in Suwon on the 9th, the venue for the eighth game of the season between KT and Hanwha. Special guests came to visit. Jamboree participants. A total of 880 people, including 800 from the United States and 80 from Canada, took their seats in the outfield grass. The event was organised as part of a national event called the ‘2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree’. KT invited the US and Canadian scouts, who were staying in Pyeongtaek and Suwon, respectively, to watch the game so that they could experience Korean baseball culture after leaving the venue early.
Attention to detail was evident everywhere. KT displayed a welcome message on the scoreboard before the game. This was to encourage the jamborees to visit Korea and to show them that they are welcome at Wizpark. The team also presented souvenirs such as a key ring with the team’s mascot, Big Tory. The highlight of the day was experiencing the KBO’s unique cheering culture. Under the leadership of cheerleader Kim Joo-ju and the cheerleaders, we learned how to cheer. The members of the jamboree participated eagerly with bright expressions on their faces.
In fact, we didn’t have enough time to prepare. This is because the situation itself was very fast-paced. We worked closely at the headquarters level. It goes without saying that we paid special attention to safety. We did everything we could to make sure the players were as comfortable as possible. There’s no doubt that we paid special attention to safety. We deployed an additional 10 dedicated on-site staff. We set up a special drink zone for the jamboree so that no one would suffer from the heat. We provided unlimited drinks and bottled water.안전놀이터
The Jamboree also demonstrated a mature attitude. For example, a US team member had to leave mid-match to travel to Pyeongtaek, and in the process, cleaned up her seat, which attracted attention. Elena (Colorado-16, USA) said, “I was excited to watch my first KBO game at KT’s invitation. As soon as I arrived at the stadium, I saw the words welcoming the Jamboree team on the electronic board. “Everything was perfect, including the weather. I think it will be a great experience.”
